# Bedding Fabric Weight, GSM and Thread Count Guide

Bedding fabric weight should be specified according to fabric type, product category and market positioning. GSM is useful for many knit, brushed, plush and synthetic fabrics, while thread count or yarn count may matter for some woven cotton-style fabrics. Buyers should connect the metric to handfeel, drape, warmth, care and price.

## Fabric Metrics

- GSM: grams per square meter for comparing fabric weight, opacity, warmth, drape and packing volume.
- Thread count: useful for suitable woven fabrics when reviewed with yarn quality, weave and finishing.
- Weave or pile: plain weave, sateen, brushed, knitted, jacquard, plush or pile direction.
- Finish: washed, brushed, peach, printed, dyed, waterproof, quilted or warm-touch finishing.
- Handfeel: soft, crisp, smooth, fluffy, breathable or warm-touch sample expectations.
- Commercial fit: MOQ, cost, season, packaging volume, care label and retail price tier.
